Our project explores the New York City art scene and the effects digital technology has on aspiring artists in various areas. We’ve chosen to focus on dance, music, and studio art. The plan is to learn what technologies individual artists are using to enhance their careers and integrating into their style. Technology plays such a prominent role in the world today and we would like to see how translates in the art world.

With the digital revolution bringing the world virtually ‘closer’ and minimizing the need for personal interaction, is New York City still the place to go for aspiring artists?
We say yes.

The small geographical size of the city lends itself well for close collaboration between artists, which is essential for progress. The influential atmosphere of the city has simply does not exist online.

We’ve set out to talk with artists and art experts about their experience in New York and the way technology has made it into the art scene, for better or worse.
